About
Kiki Slaughter is a Virginia-based painter best known for her expansive colorfield compositions that explore the fundamental process of painting. She holds a B.A. in Art and Art History from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute in London.
Slaughter’s abstract canvases emerge from an intuitive, in-the-moment practice—pouring, scraping, layering, and manipulating pigment to create richly textured, dynamic surfaces that draw on the visual history of color theory and action painting. “Paint is my method and my muse,” she says, a sentiment echoed in the physicality and vibrancy of her work.
Extending her painterly vision beyond the canvas, Slaughter translates many of her original works into bold wallpaper and textile designs, bringing her expressive energy into immersive, art-driven interiors.
Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at galleries across the United States and is held in numerous public and private collections, including Keswick Hall, Quirk Hotel, Blackberry Farm, and Omni Hotels. She is represented by Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, GA, and Hidell Brooks Gallery in Charlotte, NC. Slaughter lives and works in Richmond, Virginia.
